BECCI'S BEQUEST 2025

January Success Stories

At the start of 2024 I was gifted a vintage train set. Thinking it might raise £50 for the doggies, I popped various parts on an online auction site and low and behold, we raised an amazing 250 euros! What a wonderful start to the year. Here is where the funds have gone....

I have undertaken several dog portraits including a triple one! Some are specifically for Becci's Bequest, whilst I have donated others to various animal charities for auctions or raffle prizes. Here's how your purchases have helped thus far in January and February 2024.

In March there were several lovely donors who purchased portraits or other items from the Doodlecraft store, and with this we were able to support the dogs with some much needed tick treatment.

April 2024 - The year continued with a mixture of online and in person sales, meaning a further 90 Euros was sent directly to Aurelia at Beta's Land Shelter, to be used specifically for spay and neuter activities.

May was a quiet month at the market, as was June, but funds were still sent enabling more support, specifically for dogs Pic and Poc who will shortly be travelling to their new foster home in the UK!

My Doodlecraft Origami workshop and July market enabled me to send further funds, which is wonderful! Updates below.

My markets continued in August, helping to feed the dogs through the summer, and in September I was able to send more thanks to kind people who purchased virtual food, which turned into real food! More funds have been sent which will be used to help particular cases of need and fund spay and neutering, which is essential! Updates to follow as soon as possible. I also attended a local store and several customers were kind enough to purchase items there too, thank you to you all!

In October the Criccieth Craft Fair was particularly successful enabling a further €100 to be sent. This is going to support a spay and neuter campaign, helping the newly abandoned strays near Beta's Land shelter.

In the meantime whilst Aurelia tries to capture the dogs (it is a difficult process involving a vet to dart the dog before travelling to the surgery to spay or neuter, so patience is needed!) we continued to fundraise in October and November, and were able to support the other dogs already at the shelter, providing essential flea and worming treatments.

Earlier in the summer family and friends will know that we lost our beloved Dougie and I was anxious that he too had a legacy. Dougie's Dreams will support cats in need. To this end we have supported a little family of cats, enabling them to have a better start in life!

Christmas Markets always prove that humans can be so generous, and this year was no exception, even when money is getting tighter. Both the Dinas and Criccieth November markets meant that funds could be sent across, giving the furry friends at Beta's Land much needed additional food to help in the coldest months of the year!

In December an unexpected and very generous donation came from a dear friend who sadly lost a precious family member, this was used to ensure all the dogs were treated for parasites. It may sound trivial, but this is an absolute necessity and so costly to do! In times when funds are scare, to be able to ensure the dogs are safe from disease is a luxury, so this was a wonderful gift.

I was unable to attend the final fair of 2024, but held an online sale which raised just under £100. This has been sent over to Aurelia, and was spent on additional food to help the dogs through the winter months, which are terribly cold in Romania!
